RALLY IN SOLIDARITY WITH PEOPLE IN IRAN
Thirty-one years ago, Iranian people poured into the streets demanding their basic rights and asking for the end of totalitarianism and tyranny. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 stopped short of establishing a democratic government. But today, after enduring more than three decades of renewed repression, Iranians are protesting once again to complete a mission that was left unfinished.
Newer tyrants, and more blood-thirsty murderers, have taken charge of Iranian government, and are ruining the old and proud country. The Iranian people, men and women, young and old, are challenging the regime in order to reclaim their country and their freedom. The struggle has forced our people, young and old, to stand up against a brutal force, losing hundreds of lives in quest of democracy.
Their demands are simple. They have sacrificed their lives in order to gain what they had longed for decades: basic human rights, independence, freedom, and a democratic government. From the grounds of Iranian universities, to the rooftops and balconies of Iranian homes, people’s cries of freedom are shaking the foundations of the theocratic establishment. Their call for “freedom” is spreading all over the country like a rapid fire. They are shouting that time of petite dictators is over, and that they prefer secular governments to tyrannical ones.
We are inviting you to join us in a rally on February 6, 2010 to declare our unity and our support for these brave people and their struggles. We are not going to watch silently as our brothers and sisters lose their life and endure imprisonment, torture, rape, and violent death, just for peacefully asking for their basic constitutional, civil, and human rights. We are here to let the world know about the brutality of this atrocious and illegitimate government, and to reflect of the voices of people’s demands for freedom and peace to the whole world. Let us hope that our tears, blood, and cries would win over the tyranny and help bring it down.

A Global Celebration of Human Rights through Arts & Culture
NorCal 4 Iran invites you to a special evening of live music, poetry, dance, and visual arts on Saturday, December 12, as part of United 4 Iran’s worldwide festivities of 12/12 celebrating “Arts United 4 Iran”. The global celebration coincides the United Nations’ International Human Rights Day, and the 61st anniversary of the U.N. General Assembly’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
December 12 also marks the 6-month anniversary of the June 12 presidential election in Iran that sparked the renewed movement for freedom and human rights for all Iranians. “Arts United 4 Iran” will provide a platform for artists of all cultures and mediums to express their solidarity with the Iranian people as they continue their struggle for basic human rights.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to assist victims of torture in Iran. Your contributions will help these courageous men and women as they attempt to re-establish their lives in exile, through a special initiative with Reporters Without Borders.
Donations for the event are $30 for general admission, $20 for students. The event will be held from 7-11 p.m. at the Everett Middle School Auditorium, located at 450 Church Street, San Francisco, 94114. For more information, contact norcal4iran@gmail.com .
Please help us as we continue to support our brothers and sisters in Iran in their long quest for freedom and human rights.
